Experience
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, where I earned my Ph.D. in Education Policy with a focus on literacy, multicultural literature, and teaching children's educators about selecting appropriate materials for their curriculum. I earned my master's degree in College Student Development and Advising at the University of Wisconsin, and acted as their study abroad coordinator for a decade. I earned my bachelor's degree in English and German at Rutgers. I am a well-traveled educator, and I bring a variety of these diverse experiences into my tutoring methods. I am able to tutor students of all ages and abilities in courses like reading, writing, editing, literature, public speaking, and IB courses in anthropology and the theory of knowledge. Though I am able to tutor many different subjects, I am most passionate about helping students increase their reading and writing skills. I enjoy getting to know my students' interests in order to choose materials they will engage with, and I modify my tutoring style to meet their needs. I bring this technique to my sessions in tutoring writing as well, as a student's interest level in the topic is directly related to the level of effort they'll give the assignment! I am a dedicated educator, and I love helping each of my students meet and exceed their goals.
