Mount Holyoke College - BA, French , Rutgers University - MA, French Literature
Experience
I attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in French. I also was the president of the science fiction and fantasy club on campus. I then went to Rutgers University, where earned my masters degree in French. At Rutgers, I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant in French language classes. I realized how much I enjoyed teaching, and this led me to become a French teacher at the high school level, where I worked for seven years. I enjoy tutoring as it allows me to work with students in an one-on-one environment. This led me focus on the individual needs and learning style of each student, and we can learn effectively and efficiently with immediate feedback. I enjoy finding out what students are interested in so they can relate our learning to those things. This helps students better understand and retain information. In addition to French, I enjoy helping students learn algebra, study skills, elementary and middle school math, writing, editing, vocabulary, literature, reading, and more. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized exams like the ACT, SAT, AP exams, and others. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, crocheting, cross stitch, kung fu, music, movies, folklore, and storytelling.
